Provencial Nominee Programs

The PNP is the only federal economic immigration program in Canada that allows provinces and territories to select immigrants based on their specific skills, education, work experience, language skills, age, and other criteria.

In Canada, there are several Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP). Each PNP has its own set of requirements, eligibility criteria, and application process.

BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP)

The BC Provincial Nominee Program is a Canadian immigration program that provides qualified immigrants with the opportunity to immigrate to British Columbia. It is open to skilled workers, international graduates, entrepreneurs and self-employed people who have the skills and experience needed for the province’s labor market.

In order to be eligible for the BC PNP, applicants must have at least one year of full-time work experience in their occupation in BC within the last three years. Applicants also need a minimum language proficiency of CLB 7 or IELTS 6.5 on all four language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing).

Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is a program that allows qualified immigrants to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

The OINP has two streams: the OINP Entrepreneur Stream and the OINP Skilled Worker Stream. The Entrepreneur stream is for individuals who are self-employed with a minimum net worth of $1 million, or who have invested $500,000 in a new business in Ontario. The Skilled Worker stream requires applicants to have at least one year of full-time work experience in an occupation which matches the National Occupational Classification system’s skill type 0, A or B.

The nomination process begins with an application and supporting documents being submitted to the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration by either the applicant or their employer. Applications are then assessed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada on their merit. Successful applicants are granted permanent residence status upon approval from CIC.

Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) is a program that allows skilled workers and their families to immigrate to the province of Manitoba.

The MPNP has two streams: The Skilled Worker stream and the Entrepreneur stream. The Skilled Worker Stream is for skilled workers who want to immigrate to Manitoba with a job offer from an employer in the province. The Entrepreneur Stream is for people with business experience who want to start or buy a business in Manitoba.

In order to be eligible for either of these two streams, applicants must meet certain criteria including:

– having at least one year of work experience in their field,

– having at least one year of work experience in Canada,

– meeting language requirements,

– meeting education requirements, and

– being 18 years old or older.

Alberta Provincial Nominee Program (AINP)

The Alberta Provincial Nominee Program (APNP) is a program of the Government of the Province of Alberta that helps employers recruit qualified workers and helps qualified workers in other countries apply to immigrate to Alberta.

The APNP nominates people for permanent residence who will make a positive contribution to the economy, provide for an easier transition into Canadian society, or both. The program is made up of two components: Express Entry/Alberta PNP and Labor Market Impact Assessment Stream.

Express Entry/Alberta PNP – Express Entry allows skilled workers from around the world to submit an application for Canadian immigration through an electronic process managed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. Once an applicant has been selected for immigration, they are invited by CIC to complete their application for permanent residence in Canada. Applicants work with Service Canada during this process.

Labor Market Impact Assessment Stream – Candidates who are nominated under this stream must have skills that are deemed in demand by Alberta employers.

The APNP is designed for skilled and qualified individuals who want to immigrate to Alberta and who have the necessary language ability, work experience, education credentials and qualifications that meet the needs of the province

New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP)

Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP)

The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) is a program that aims to attract skilled workers to the province. The NLPNP has three streams: Skilled Worker, Business and Entrepreneur, and International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream.

Skilled Worker stream: This stream focuses on attracting skilled workers to the province. To be eligible for this stream, applicants must have a full-time job offer from an employer in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The applicant must also have either a post-secondary degree or diploma from an accredited institution or be able to demonstrate at least two years of continuous work experience in their field of work.

Business stream: This stream focuses on attracting business owners with business plans for the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream: This stream is only open to international graduates who are looking to start their own business in Newfoundland and Labrador after graduation.

Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP)

The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) is a Canadian provincial nominee program which helps in the process of immigration to Nova Scotia. It is an immigration program that provides assistance to skilled immigrants and their families who want to live and work in Nova Scotia.

The NSNP was introduced in 2008 by the Nova Scotia government. The program is designed for qualified immigrants who have been nominated by a province or territory, a Canadian employer, or an organization that has been designated by the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada as a designated organization.

The NSNP is for individuals who want to live in Nova Scotia permanently. It offers an opportunity for qualified candidates to apply for permanent residence through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Applicants must have at least one year of full-time work experience in their nominated occupation, be able to speak English or French, meet settlement requirements and intend to live permanently in the province.

Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP)

The PEI PNP is a program that allows qualified applicants to apply for immigration to Prince Edward Island. The program is designed to attract skilled immigrants who can contribute to the province’s economy and society.

Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program provides a way for individuals and families to move to Saskatchewan from other countries. There are requirements for the applicant, including education and work experience, language skills, and medical exams.

The applicant must be nominated by a Saskatchewan employer for the program. The process requires more than one application (applicant profile form, employment contract), a written reference letter from an employer in Saskatchewan, and an assessment of your ability to speak either English or French.

You must also be legally eligible to work in Canada without a job offer in hand. You must be able to support yourself or your family members while looking for work once you arrive in Canada.

Only some provinces take part in this program: Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec do not participate.

The Government of Canada will only consider you as an immigrant if you are nominated by the provincial government that deals with immigration applications on behalf of the province.

Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP)

The Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) was made in order to encourage immigration from outside the territories. It does this by providing a pathway to permanent residency for people with certain skills and interests in the region.

The NTNP assesses applications for skills and interest, then may approve applicants if they meet certain criteria. The applicant’s needs must align with the economic, social or cultural goals of the territory before they are given approval.

The Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) is a provincial nominee program that allows the fast-tracking of immigrants to Northwest Territories. The program was established in 2008 by the Northwest Territories Council to address the Territory’s labour shortage, high unemployment rates and aging population.

Eligibility

The NTNP is open to prospective residents who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents, who must meet a number of criteria to be successful in their application for nomination. These include being 18 or older, being able to provide evidence of a means of financial support, have no outstanding legal obligations and not be involved in any criminal activity or substance abuse. Applicants must also have lived in Canada for at least 12 consecutive months at some point during the last five years.

Yukon Nominee Program (YNP)

The YNP program is a Canadian immigration program that allows individuals to immigrate to Canada and work in Yukon. There are two ways to apply for the YNP program. The primary way is by applying through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) as part of the Express Entry application process. The other way is by applying directly to the Yukon government.

An individual will be eligible for the YNP program if they meet certain criteria, such as being 18 years old or older, not being a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada, living in one of four regions in Yukon and having sustainable employment arranged in Yukon. One must also have an invitation from a prospective employer and submit an application package including an application form, supporting documents, letters of reference from employers or educational institutions and payment for the nomination fee which is $1,000 CAD for those who use the IRCC Express Entry system.
